Artist's Comments

Another mushroom called Stropharia aurantiaca.
This kind of fungi grow now and then on small pieces of wood used to cover the soil.
These specimens were growing in my garden.

I love their vivid orange colour every fall.

These kind of mushrooms are rather new for Belgium. They can be found in great numbers on wood-kindlings. Since a lot of people recycle what they prune away from trees and shrubs, a lot of those wood-kindlings are used on paths and under shrubs in the gardens. This is an ideal matrix for this species of mushrooms.
